Japan Trip: Osaka and Toyosato
Yes, all of the remaining Japan Trip posts are very late, sorry!
The first thing we did after getting to Osaka, was go to Toyosato, where Toyosato Elementary School is. This is the school that K-On!'s Sakuragaoka High School is based on! What's nice is that you can walk around the whole building and get a feel for what Japanese schools are like. The music room where the K-On! characters spend all their time has been turned into a shrine to them, set up with teacups and cakes on the table and all! It was incredibly hot, as there was no air conditioning but it was worth it!
I wrote on the back page of one of the guest books, so if you ever happen to visit, look out for me! ^^
The next day we went to Den Den Town, the 'Otaku Road' of Osaka. I met up with a friend who I'd met when she was studying in England, and she showed me around. These were my first Japanese otaku-specialist stores, and they were packed with so many interesting things!
After browsing around for a while, we walked to Bodyline, through the famous shopping district with the Glico Man sign. I didn't expect it to be on a bridge over water! I was a very cool-looking place.
After Bodyline we went to karaoke! It was my first time, and I was very nervous... I can sing Japanese, but I can't read it, so I couldn't even sing one line of my first song! I became very upset but decided to spend £10 on the iPhone to get the romaji lyrics from the internet. After that, I had an absolutely fantastic time! I sang lots of songs, including Sora-iro Days from Gurren Lagann and God Knows from Haruhi Suzumiya (Both songs I'm very confident about singing), I suprised everyone by singing the last chorus of God Knows in English!
Finally we went to some arcades, played DDR and some awesome rhythm shooting game, and then we got Purikura, tiny little sticker photos that you decorate with various stamps and things. They were particular machines that made your eyes big and skin pale to try and make you look more like an anime character!
We went back to Den Den Town again before we left Osaka and bought lots of things, including my first Japanese doll, an Azone Pure Neemo!
We also visited Kyoto one last time, to say good bye, as we wouldn't be going back there for the rest of the trip! We went to the top of the train station building and took this photo of Kyoto Tower. I cried... Kyoto has been my favourite place in Japan, I'm even getting teary-eyed remembering it!
